Looking at the word cloud, it is save to conclude that I love Vietnamese food. My two favourite Vietnamese dishes are Phở and Cơm tấm (broken rice). I also have no problem travelling to the other side of Perth to pursue my love these dishes. This time around it was off to Mirrabooka and Hu Tieu Than Liem.
I have tried the phở here and it is pretty good but this time I was after the broken rice.
Hu Tieu Thanh Liem’s version is the best broken rice in Perth in my humble opinion. The grilled pork chop has a wonderful grilled flavour, unique amongst the other Vietnamese places I have eaten at in Perth. The shredded pork skin I found to be a bit more flavourful than other renditions and the pork meatloaf was still freshly warm. Pickles and a fried egg round off the dish nicely. Nước chấm (Vietnamese dipping sauce) and a bowl of broth (albeit a bit salty) complete the meal.
Hu Tieu Than Liem has become one of my favourite Vietnamese places and I would frequent it more if it was not on the other side of Perth to me .
