The clock hits 11:30 AM and I start to gather my colleagues. We ask the eternal question, “What is for lunch?”.
Today it is the Tuck Shop Cafe.
Upon entering the store, the decor follows the style of the new coffee places in Perth. A place that one can relax with a book in one hand and a coffee in the other. This time lunch called so after perusing the menu, I chose the Beef and Stilton pie.
Upon arrival it looked like a good pie. The gravy seemed lacking but after biting into the pie, it wasn’t needed. The beef filling was good, with actual pieces of beef. However what stood out was me was the pastry. It gave way easily to a knife but wasn’t greasy as you would expect from a pastry that behaves this way. I think I could taste a bit of cheese but could not see any Stilton and if I was given this blind, would have thought it was good beef pie with a hint of wine.
For some reason I didn’t try the coffee but I look forward to that next time I visit.
P.S. They do the best onion rings I have ever had.
